About us
Due to other commitments we are currently not breeding birds but hoping in the future to return albeit on a smaller scale.
Welcome to My Pampered Parrots...
We were a small aviary based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia who bred birds for a number of years.
We specialised in the breeding and hand-raising of quality Australian parrots including King Parrots and Crimson Wings. Our hand raised birds are now pets to people in most states of Australia.
Our main breeding season was from August through to December with many of our birds pre-sold.
Over the years our aviaries were home to King Parrots, Crimson Wings, Regent Parrots, Superb Parrots, Mallee Ringnecks, Indian Ringnecks, Cockatiels.
We currently only have two birds who have been with us for quite a number of years. Both of them were rescues… a handraised pet male Regent parrot who goes by the name ‘Sid’ and a female crimson wing named ‘Sally’.
Birds as pets
In our experience most handraised birds make excellent pets providing their owner is prepared to spend quality time and effort with their pet. Some breeds though do require more work than others.
Handraising
We successfully handraised birds for a number of years now. All of our handraised babies found good homes across a number of states of Australia.
Bonding
It is important that you and your bird bond early. From our experience we have found it most beneficial if you take your bird home soon after they have fully weaned. This is usually around 6 - 8 weeks of age.
Time
It is also important that you spend time with your bird and allow them to be comfrotable around you. From our experience an unfriendly bird is often the result of being ignored.

Our aviaries...
It started
Aviaries
Our aviaries consisted of a combination of walk-in style and suspended aviaries. Our first aviary was a small, square commercial aviary
It grew...
Walk-ins
Our frist large walk-in aviary was approx 5.5m(l) x 3.5m(w) x 1.8m(h) and was divided length ways into two areas. This was built specifically to house our first pair of King Parrots. Our later set of aviaries was a bank of 5 walk-in aviaries to house the larger parrots. Each aviary was approximately 4.5m(l) x 1.2m(w) x 2.4m(h) giving plenty of flight length for the larger parrots. This aviary had a full concrete floor and drain for easier cleaning.
...and grew!
Suspended
We had one bank of suspended aviaries with 6 areas however after building and working with these our personal preference is definitely for walk-in as it allows for more interaction with the birds.
